Industry Training

Established in 1999, Searchlight Solutions works exclusively in the general insurance market. As a result the Company has developed an extensive understanding of the issues facing insurance organisations and their managers. We also fully understand how all staff, managers and directors need to be supported, trained and developed so that the organisation can achieve improved quality of service and technical knowledge.

There are two main aspects of Searchlight’s business:

E-Learning

Searchlight has its own bespoke e-learning package called 'Tick'.

What is Tick?
Tick is the most comprehensive e-learning and assessment programme dedicated to the general insurance industry.

Who uses Tick?
The material is used by over 10,000 people in a wide variety of companies across the general insurance industry

What does it contain?

  • Over 150 insurance courses, each of which:
  • ° caters for learners with different levels of existing knowledge - so it can be used by staff at different stages in their career from trainee to specialist
    ° concludes with a multiple choice question test that confirms whether the learner has acquired the required knowledge
  • 50 scenario-based insurance case studies that enable staff to test both their technical knowledge and the application of that knowledge thus helping to demonstrate competency in their role, as required by the Regulator
  • Insurance product-based technical assessments based on a bank of over 4,500 questions that enable staff to test their technical product knowledge. Assessments are linked to bespoke training programmes on that topic and individuals are guided to appropriate training if they fail to demonstrate the required level of knowledge in the assessment
  • A further 200 courses covering:
    ° interpersonal skills
    ° management skills
    ° the European Community Driving Licence IT qualification
    ° personnel and training topics
  • A comprehensive glossary of over 500 general insurance terms

How does it work?

  • You purchase a competitively priced annual user licence
  • You or your manager then choose courses, training and tests from a menu containing the above courses
  • Training is undertaken either:
    ° at the computer, there and then, or
    ° can be delivered in daily ‘bites’ by email to individual workstations or
    ° can be printed off to read on the train or bus
  • The system automatically records and updates all activity so meeting compliance requirements and adds CPD hours for courses studied and tests passed on Tick
  • Individuals’ other CPD activity can be added to the system thus maintaining a full CPD record to meet the regulator’s requirements

Is the system fully supported?

  • Full technical support and assistance is provided as part of the licence fee
  • Courses to be mapped to forthcoming national standards and thus will support FSSC aims and requirements
  • Courses on the system are constantly monitored and updated when required due to changes in regulation, law or market practice so they remain current and relevant to the market
  • All individual records are retained indefinitely

Face to Face Workshops

Searchlight delivers a wide range of face to face training workshops on insurance technical, management and interpersonal skills topics. Searchlight works for over 300 clients including the UK’s largest insurers, brokers, loss adjusters and trade bodies. In the last year Searchlight delivered over 1,000 training sessions and work with 50 trainers.

What makes Searchlight training different?

Searchlight will:

  • Offer training assessment and skills audits – this gives a clearer picture of the true training requirements of the individuals involved
  • Design and deliver bespoke training solutions individually tailored to precise training needs
  • Provide post training access to trainers, thus giving additional post-training support and the ability to follow up queries
  • Provide knowledge testing as part of training packages thus verifying that participants have fully absorbed the training content. This can prove invaluable in demonstrating competence to the FSA
  • Provide pre training assessments or course work
